Question: Need sugestions so i can try to stop cutting,!?
So i told my friend the other day that i was a cutter and she took it much better than i thought!. I also told her i would try to stop!. So i made it 2 days without cutting then this afternoon i gave in and cut again!.

What is the best way to stop without telling my mom or going to go see a doctor!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

In all honesty, the best way to stop cutting is to see a psychologist to address your problems of depression!. Cutting is just a step away from suicide!. Untreated depression is the number one cause for suicide!.

Your mother, and a doctor, will be able to help you stop!. If you still are adamant about not doing either of those then here are a few suggestions:

1) Set out a "No-Cutting" contract with your friend, if you have a close friendship with her!. In the contract set out some things like you promise not to cut anymore, and you promise that if you feel like cutting you will give her a call to discuss your feelings of why you want to cut!.

2) A list of 50 things to do before you cut!. When you feel like you would like to cut, you should have a list of 50 things to do before you cut!. Examples of things to do before you cut could be listen to 5 techno songs, read a chapter in a book, or even read a page out of the encyclopedia!. Take a 20 minute walk, try and sing your favorite song backwards, etc!.

3) Write in a journal, when you feel the need to cut just get a notebook and start writing, write your feelings, etc, and keep writing until you no longer feel the need to cut!.

Those are just a few suggestions, but the best thing you could do for yourself to help at this time is to tell your mother so you can see a doctor!.

obviously the best answer is going to a doctor

the physiological effect of cutting yourself is that the body releases endorphins that help counter the pain, and in effect "cheer you up"
same as eating food and doing things you like!.

if you really want to feel better and get the same "high" of endorphins is to work out
working out (your muscles) is like hurting them and causes endorphins to be realeased, and a bonus is that you get in shape and it will help boost your self esteem!.
