it's more complicated then that. The active ingredient that I'm assuming your talking about is THC. It is very small and goes everywhere in the body, especially fat cells. If you partake on a regular basis (once a day or so, or more) it stays in your system for around a month (depending on metabolism) in fat cells. It should be noted that it stays in there much much longer, but, I assume this question is being asked because of a drug test, which would not detect the lower levels after about a month. If you smoke much less, maybe once every few months, it could be undetectable in the body after several days.
