I'm visiting a doctor for my anxiety and I want to know what to expect?!

Question: I'm visiting a doctor for my anxiety and I want to know what to expect?
I've had anxiety for months now, nearly a year, I guess... and I was on Zoloft for it and I was prescribed Xanex for my panic attacks. I took the liberty of taking myself off of the medicine a while ago (Stupid decision..) and now my anxiety is MUCH worse. I feel nauseous for days because of it and I am still having panic attacks. I feel like I'm going insane and I may be depressed. It's beginning to affect my life though-- my relationship with my boyfriend, my friends, work, classes, and my family. So as well as getting on medication I'd like to begin going to therapy. What sort of medication do you think my doctor will prescribe?
I really feel at my wits ends now, I'm not sure how much longer I can take this.

Answers:

its a good thing to return to your Doctor.Seeing ur doctor is not enough but you must be ready to follow professionally given advice. Untreated and prolonged anxiety can result in a more serious pschiatric disorder that could be debilitating. Let your Dr decide on how best to handle your case. There is no need to be afraid sincs they have been trained on how best to handle defaulters. You"ll do fine if you go.

medical doctors are not the best for anxiety - they're better for medical issues really and often have no idea of your suffering. group therapy helps as does seeing a psychiatrist

Sertraline is good.

edit - Jessie K - I have had clinical depression since 2003 and anxiety since 1989 and could probably pass a Mastermind on the subject.

A Forty of Jack Daniels and a carton of cigs will fix you up. Anxiety is all in the head.
Only you can control it. Stop beating yourself up and your nerves will desentatize.

How would these numb nuts know m there are no qualifications to answer these questions, and they could give you information t make it a lot worse.

See? That idiot can't even sell Ativan!

adovan is what ive found to work better than zanax and zoloft
