What causes night sweats?!

Question: What causes night sweats?
So me and my mom both have a hard time sleeping because of night sweats. We wake up sweating but at the same time we will be freezing. What causes this? Is it linked to depression? for me they have been getting worse (i am 17) and i have also been getting really dizzy even when i am laying down or sitting. could this be linked?

You and your mom may have night sweats for different reasons. If you are taking medication for your depression that might be a factor. Your mom may be having hormone fluctuations. Night sweats are common and usually aren't cause for concern. In some cases, night sweats may be triggered by something as straightforward as too many blankets on your bed or certain medications. Many women have night sweats when they go through menopause. But sometimes night sweats can be caused by a medical disorder. Infection, cancer, problems in your nervous system or in your body's hormone-producing glands (endocrine system) can all trigger night sweats. Check here for more information.
