How come when an object gets close to your nose you can sense it?!

Question: How come when an object gets close to your nose you can sense it?
For example, glasses really annoy me because I can always sense them. But even when I hold something a few centimeters away from my nose I can still sense it. It's weird, I can't describe it, you just have to try it, and if you don't feel anything then maybe I'm just special.

But if you know what I'm talking about then please give me a scientific response. What allows you to sense it? or is it just psychosomatic? (am I just imagining it?)

Answers:

I think it's because you can see it.
Or if you are holding the something you know it's there.
You have to learn to 'tune out' glasses - normally I do, but thinking about this has made me very aware of them. that's a nuisance.

To test this you would have to be blindfolded and wear earplugs. Then get someone (you trust!) to test out your theory by holding things up - without creating a draught either.

I think it;s psychosomatic.

Because you're nosy.

because you're breathing on it, and its blocking some of the air from your nose too.
