Is it ok for my 83 year old grandmother to smoke marijuana all the time?!

I view marijuana as a minor drug, but it depends how much she smokes it and if she has a disease that is terminal or causes a lot of pain. Please be more detailed.

Because of the changes in lung tissue elasticity leading to loss of compliance of the lungs, and more ineffective breathing patterns, smoking should NEVER be encouraged in the elderly. Smoking will damage her trachea, bronchi, as well as the lung tissue where oxygenation takes place. I can't think of a worse thing to do to an old person. Not to mention the illegality and expense of it.

I think it's probably more appropriate for older people to smoke weed as opposed to teenagers.
They have all the life experience. They know what they're up to.
Plus it's a pretty good painkiller from what I've heard. It probably makes her feel better about being 83 years old.
Other than the fact that it's illegal in most places, I don't really see much wrong with it.
Just make sure she doesn't pick up something more serious like heroin.
That's not okay.

She is an adult now, she can make up her own mind, but, generally it is illegal to smoke marijuana at any age.

Its time for her to just chill out, relax. and she just chose to do it with marijuana!

NO! No matter your age you shouldn't be able to use drugs. It seems to help her because her body is ADDICTED to it. Its against the law.

She's 83 years old. Lived through quite a few wars, a depression, etc. Wise woman. Let her be in peace.
