Does it sound like I have anemia?!

Question: Does it sound like I have anemia?
I'm worried that I have Iron deficiency Anemia but I don't want to go to the doctors as I'm terrified of blood tests/injections, especially since I'm not sure.
I've been a vegetarian for 7 to 8 years and I don't eat fish. I don't eat vegetables very often as I hate the taste. However I do eat a lot of cereals which are fortified with iron?

My nails are almost completley white/purplish with just a hint of pink at the very ends of where the nail is usually all pink. They have striped patterns on them and curve upwards and are very brittle. My hair is also very brittle and latley has been falling out, though I do dye it frequently so I suppose that doesn't help. If I pull my eyelid down under my eyes is a very pale pinkish colour, not red. I have very pale skin and I have weird red sores in the corners of my mouth. I'm very tired a lot and just recently I've been having troubles getting to sleep. I have random head aches a lot and I get heart palpations and pins and needles and cold hands and feet. I also have problems swallowing properly on and off.
I've heard another symptom is little red bumps appearing on your thighs which I also have.
Also, I have very very heavy periods but I have always had very heavy periods. I got put on the pill to help slow it but I ended up coming off it for various reasons.

Sorry for the length and thanks :) Does it sound like I should see the doctor?

Absolutely! You definitely need to see a doctor immediately. in the mean time, start taking prenatal vitamins. These will provide you with good sources of Vitamin B and Folic acid. Vitamin C help you absorb iron. I would also recommend you start eating rare beef. If that is too much, lots of spinach and dark greens. Beef is best though.

Most import is you see a doctor. rings on you finger nails is a clear sign of liver dysfunction.

hiya love

yeah it does sound alot like anemia and you should go to the doctors as soon as possible..... i know injections/blood tests arent the best of things but if they help with our lives/bodys we should have them...

:) hope this helps and book a doctors apointment tmorro just to be on the safe side

all the best x

You don't eat a well balanced vegetarian diet. See a Dr, and get a referral for a dietitian. Vitamins would be recommended.
