Blood.
Black stools usually indicate blood in the stool. Most people think blood in the stool is red, and it will be red if the problem is near the rectum. However, it you have bowl cancer further up in the colon or intestines, the blood leaked from the tumor will have turned black by the time you have a bowl movement. MY best guess is you have bowel cancer and got it bad if the whole stool is black.
There are many reasons for black stool. Among them are........bleeding from
gastrointestinal tract, foods such as black licorice, blueberries, blackberries,
black or dark cake icing, black jelly beans etc. Also, pepto bismal, iron
supplements and some medication. Most often one of the above is the cause.
It is also a sign of cancer and should be investigated if it continues.
Look back and try to remember what you had for dinner the night before. Many things we eat can cause this. I would give it a couple of days, and if it doesn't clear up, make a doctors appointment.
iron supplements can cause black stools,if this is not the case and this continues see your doctor, stomach ulcer comes to mind.
It's seems like you are having bleeding in your stomach. Consult your doctor soon.
Did you have a session on the guiness last night?
