What is earwax made of?!
Question: What is earwax made of?
I would like to know what it is made of in addition to what it's purpose is. Like if I were going to cook up some earwax (which I know I can't), what would the ingredients be? Thanks!
Answers:
scientifically, earwax is known as cerumen, and consists mostly of dead skin cells with keratin, cholesterol, glucose, and fatty acids.
it is meant to protect the sensitive skin of the inner ear, and helps keep the ear canal clean by sweeping dirt along with it as it slowly rolls out of the ear, like how a glacier pulls rocks with it as it recedes.
