Does having more HDL cholestrol lower LDL cholestrol?!

Question: Does having more HDL cholestrol lower LDL cholestrol?
I just read something on HDL saying that it helps remove excess cholestrol. does that mean it lowers ur LDL cholesterol? could u also explain it to me how it does that if it does?

Answers:

There is no specific relationship between HDL and LDL. Both HDL and LDL are particles that transport cholesterol and triglycerides (e.g.fats) in the blood. HDL and LDL do not affect each other.

HDL is believed to remove cholesterol from cells that enter artery walls. HDL also carries powerful antioxidants. Both HDL and LDL are also involved in the body's immune response.

The belief that cholesterol causes heart disease has been shown to be mistaken. Cholesterol is used in many membranes and structures in the body. For example, the brain contains a large portion of the body's cholesterol. Cholesterol is also used by the body to repair damage caused by inflammation.
