I'm trying to quit my smoking?!

Question: I'm trying to quit my smoking?
I tried quitting before I lasted 2 weeks but i never felt committed to quitting. Now I'm ready to try again for my girlfriend and my health and i really do feel committed to quit this time, I've read about how long it takes for nicotine to leave your system and I hear it can take up to a month depending on how much you smoke and so far my plan is to help wash out the nicotine I'm gonna start drinking a lot of water, workout a lot more and whenever I have a craving I'll chew gum but what I'm asking for is anything else to help me quit (and i don't have a lot of money so anything i won't have to buy) is there anything else there i can do to help when i have a craving?

I used to smoke, and worried about quitting. Forget about the nicotine, with cravings. To me it was just about habit, just habit. I have know known people and they have agreed. If you come to the conclusion that it is only a habit it is easier to stop. But you do have to keep your self busy, so you keep your mind occupied. It is just a habit when you do certain things like have coffee, use the phone, driving the car, chatting, drinking. We have just go into a habit of doing something with our hand. It is not easy, but keep your mind busy and not bored. You can do it. Take care.

Nicotine (Cigarettes) is one of the most addictive, harmful drugs in the world today. Smoking is a bad habit. Period. Cigarettes are responsible for around 4.9 million deaths each year!

If you really want to break the addiction forever. This blog has a program that DOES WORK! I smoked 20 Cigarettes a day+ I could not stop. I looked for many products to help me but none did… until I found this! http://stopsmokingimmediately.blogspot.com/ to quit in less then an hour and never go back again.

Hi I smoked for 30 years so know what you're going through, I've given it up now for 10 years and can honestly say it's the best thing I ever did. I tried all sorts of different things but what worked for me was changing my mindset towards smoking and why I would reach for a fag.

Good luck

When I quit I had blowpops handy to help with the hand to mouth thing. Having lollipops around was very helpful. After about a month you will be able to smell smoke on others and it's a total turn off. You won't believe how bad it smells when you no longer smoke.

Most ex-smokers quit countless times before giving up the habit so don't make the mistake of giving up just because you've reoffended once or twice.

Judging by your paragraph you sound pretty addicted, but kudos for trying to quit and being commited. Its tough, I know. I'm going on 8 months smoke free myself. For some people it works to just quit cold turkey (like myself) and for many others, its best if you ween off of nicotine. If smoking is that big of part in your life, try weening off if cold turkey didnt work last time. If you smoke a pack a day, cut down to only six a day for 5 days. After that, cut down to 3 for 5 days, then none. Have your gum, patches, or whatever handy. Let the benefits of quitting be your motivation. One thing that really motivated me to quit, is that I wanted to get into shape. I wanted to start a rigorous workout routine, but I knew being a smoker it would be hard to do that with my lungs being plagued with tobacco. So I quit, and took up working out everyday as my new "habit" if you will. I lost 20 lbs, and I am understating when I say I felt GREAT. Anyway, I'm pregnant now, still not smoking. Once I have the baby, its back to being fit and staying in shape. Good luck to you, you can do it!

Edit- Holly is so right about that
