Mom's in hospital? Can anyone shed light on two issues that I have?!

Question: Mom's in hospital? Can anyone shed light on two issues that I have?
Right now, it is almost 2 a.m. here and I am sitting in my room on my laptop. The reason for me being up so late is because I am an 18-year-old who is concerned about my 48-year-old mother. She is in the hospital right now (she went in today earlier like around 2 p.m.) and was admitted as soon as she came in.

The reason they kept her overnight is because they wanted to routinely draw blood from her to check her cardiac enzymes by overseeing them throughout the night so as to figure out if she has any heart conditions. They were also skeptical because they discovered that my mom has an "abnormal EKG"

I have a major problem though. I have class that starts at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow and it ends at 2:00 p.m. and I have No idea what time she is being released so I wanted to come visit her anyways. I live close to this hospital, but not close enough so I was thinking of maybe taking my bike over there before/after school (i don't know which one yet); but I doubt that the hospitals have bike racks so I was thinking of parking/locking my bike across the street but I don't know if the restaurant square there has bike racks.

I feel lonely, missing her, and sad:( and wish that she wasn't there now because it makes me feel uncomfortable and uneasy.. I'm afraid to fall asleep. I feel like tomorrow is going to be stressful..

OK, here is what you do.

Turn off your computer, go take a shower, drink a glass of water, set your alarm for 9am, crawl into bed, tell yourself to not worry tonight b/c mom is in good hands. There is nothing you can do to help her and you are just stressing yourself. Sleep is the best thing for you.

The hospital WILL have a bike rack. All of them do. If you ride your bike to school, you can ride it to the hospital, then ride it home. No issue.

It is understandable that you are worried about her. But you need to take care of you, too.

BTW, your mom will probably not be discharged before you get out of class, but unless you are having a mid-term exam tomorrow, the instructor would probably be forgiving if you skipped class and sat with your mom. Take a book to read, though. It is really boring sitting in the hall while tests are done or the medical team is in there with your mom.

Best wishes

Used to work in a hospital keeping track of assets like bike racks and wheel chairs.

Just pray and talk to God, keep your head up throught whatever and talk to your friends and other family or whoever else about how you are feeling and what's going through your mind and you will feel alot better. Just have faith and be strong. Good luck and God bless you! (: ?

Doctors don't know but what they see, when they receive a patient that is explaining certain things all they can do is run the proper test to evaluate what they all ready know to try and understand more. An abnormal ekg warrants further tests. Did you know you can get an abnormal ekg for something as simple as low blood sugar?

Sounds like your Mom needs to be there so they can figure out what is going on. What i mean is NOT going to the hospital and staying at home would be a serious mistake.
If you want to sleep then just know your mom is in the hands of professionals who get paid allot of money to deal with this stuff. Besides you cant do anything by staying up and worrying, in fact it would be much wiser to get rest in order to deal with the stress you feel coming on. Exact sleep like a weapon against your stress. About school, maybe you need to email your instructor requesting the days work and any homework assignments, or if that'll make mom unhappy (don't wanna stress her out) then go before AND after since you live so close. And if yo still can't sleep make her a card to bring her before class tomorrow and then rest, knowing your bringing it to her tomorrow. :)

Sorry to hear about your mom. Hope she gets better.

Your first issue is if the hospital has bike racks? That is hard to answer because you didn't actually tell us what the name of the hospital is! There are more then 1 hospital in the world.

And what is the second issue? You are afraid to fall asleep? Then stay up. I did an allnighter or two in my life!
