Is it possible to reduce side effects for medication? Or is this medication simp!

Question: Is it possible to reduce side effects for medication? Or is this medication simply not for me?
I've been prescribed 50mg tramadol for chronic pain due to a mitochondrial dysfunction on Tuesday and ever since then I've felt really off. It took awy like a ton of my pain and it;'s significanly reduced and my attacks of my symptoms really reduced...bt I feel like funny. I only take one dose at night right before I fell asleep. Yesterday when i was talking to the nurse and counselor for some thigns I felt like they were looking at me weird while I was talking to them, and my stomachs been more sensitive and I feel like really off. I odn't think it could be considered loopy but I don't feel like myself. Is this normal while on pain medication? I'm 121 pounds and 5'8''. I'm also 15 years old...any advice? How long should i wait to like tell my doctors and things that maybe this med isn't for me? Should I just give it time? .Like...I know medication shouldn't lst that long and I shouldn't be feeling the effects so long (like 12 hours) and it's probably all in my head but I've felt really weird on it. But..yeah.

Answers:

Well, I think a week is standard... even two weeks... but really, if it's that bothersome, just call the doctor and see what they say about it. Heck, you could even call them now and ask them when you can expect this to start to drop off. No matter what you're going to have to give a bit more time, though. You not feeling like yourself and things... well, not always going to be something in your head. It could very likely be the medicine. Doesn't mean it's always going to be like that but you know, it could be one of those things that get better after a few more doses. If you continue to feel really off, though... I don't think it's something you should stay on. I'm sure there's a plethora of other pain killers you'll be able to give a go at but this one is still very new to your body... so, mmm, yeah, you can call them and talk about it or just give a week if you can manage feeling like that for so long.

I don't think you can do anything to reduce them, but I know some medications side-effects reduce if you've been on them awhile.
