Why every hospitals are so heartless?!

Question: Why every hospitals are so heartless?
Every time I go to hospital to see my father, nurse called us to see my father, they don't let me go in because 1 person must go in. That's is not very nice of them. So why one person must go in, not all the family members?

Nurses and Doctors must answer this. Sorry. (By the way, I wasn't rant over) I just want to know why one person go in.

Yes.. Tom is right.
Too many people could be too much for him. It depends on what he have but it can have serious problems. (specially if he had something with his heart or brain)

Here is one example that you can understand it better:
When you are excited, your blood flows faster. This means that your heart has more to do, it has to beat faster. So when your father now (as example) had a heart attack, then it would bring him greater risk again...

Even so the hospitals in America are looking after money and seems to be unfriendly.. they still want you healthy..

If your Dad is in Intensive Care, or is in an excitable state, then it makes it much better for HIM if only one person at a time comes in for a short visit. Groups of people can be overwhelming when you're seriously ill. (Some families are overwhelming when you're perfectly well.)

One needn't be a doctor or nurse to answer your question. A bit of life experience is enough.
