I have a question about Xanax?!

Question: I have a question about Xanax?
I know that usually the only negative side effect from Xanax is becoming addicted. But I read that side effects from taking the drug and it made me extremely nervous (go figure). I read that it can cause Chest tightening, difficulty breathing, nervousness (which I dont understand cause I thought it treated it) and alot of other things. I also heard that if you take it you HAVE to keep taking it cause it can cause serious withdrawals? Even if I only take half of 0.5 mg twice a day? Do those things usually happen alot? now I'm afraid of taking the medicine... what should I do? I'm scared of those things happening to me...

DON'T listen to tatsu, your body will get physically addicted either way. Whether you use it for treatment or recreation after prolonged use and stopping all at once you WILL experience withdrawls. And the withdrawls are pretty bad. I've had cold sweats, nausea, overall body pain, and also you will feel completely drained from withdrawls. Xanax is something you have to ween off the dose to stop or you will experience the withdrawls.

Also about the side effects, no you should not worry. You most likely will experience none of them.

Ok this is how withdrawls work. Your body will be adjusted to the regular intake of said drug. After stopping all at once, it seriously shifts all aspects of your body and your body literally cannot function normally without it.

I am not exaggerating when I say this. If someone is being perscribed 8mg+ a day because they've been using it for so long and their tolerance is so high, and they COMPLETELY STOP taking it. They would literally die from the withdrawls.

And no, you will not receive withdrawls from a single days use at that dose. If you were to take .5mg twice a day everyday for months straight and stopped, then yes, you would have minor to moderate withdrawls.

You will only get addicted if it makes you high.
