Why don't my knees bend when I faint?!

Question: Why don't my knees bend when I faint?
I have fainted a couple of times, and people tell me that when I fainted I fell straight forward without bending my knees. Whenever I see people faint they seem to crumple to the ground. Why does this happen to me?

Its a reflex reaction. Its the bodies rapid defence mechanism. You usually see it happen in little kids when they are scared, their legs shoot up stiff and they fall over.

It happens as a response of your mind and body to a sudden unexpected stimulus (so whatever it was that caused you to faint in the first place). It happens so fast your cerebral cortex cannot mediate the action so you just stiffen and fall to protect yourself (you legs extend, your arms might be drawn into the body)
