Ulcer or misdiagnosed.......?!

Question: Ulcer or misdiagnosed.......?
Went to see the doctor last week. Explained my symptoms, he checked my belly and did a blood work for the bacteria which was negative and said I had an ulcer. I am on ulcer medication. Anyways, the pain which I have in my upper abdomen would not go away. Started rubbing my chest area with a deep penetrating pain relief rub and started taking pills for muscle aches and the pain is less severe. Is it possible that I do not have an ulcer at all but the pain is associated with my muscles or something? I am going to see him again next week but just was wondering if the doctor could be wrong....?

Answers:

Hi.Well, the Blood work the doctor was checking for is a bacteria known as H Pylori, and luckily your test results came back negative.Just because the blood test came back negative does not mean that you do not have an ulcer. The test result only mean you don't have H Pylori..which is a very nasty infection, and if my memory serves my correct..is an infection at the onset of an ulcer(right when an ulcer begins).But,again...this doesn't mean you do not have an ulcer, and you could have had this ulcer for some time, and possibly weren't aware of it's existence.I suggest you do as your doctor instructed,as with many ulcers...treatment takes time, and results from treatment also takes time.Although, you may feel some relief from the techniques you've tried....I still suggest you do as your doctor has instructed.I have 3 ulcers, and I know the pain these nasty things can bring.I'm now healing well,my ulcers are now healing after a long period of treatment.I wish you well, and hope that soon you too will be well on your way to recovery as well.Take care.
