quitting drinking please help?!

Question: Quitting drinking please help?
to give a little backround im 18 and have been drinking sense 12. it has just got wrose eatch year, even when it seemed impossible to get wrose it has. i have droped out of school but im not blaming that on drinking. im going to a program to help me better mylife and i get payed to go. i have gone in drunk about half the time bringing in a water bottled filled with vodka or rum. they have smelled it off me a few times and i have got sent home many times. i didnt plan on going in drunk some times i would come in sober then withdrawals would hit me and i would get very nervus and shakey and couldent even think straight, so i would have to quikly go to the liquor store and get some vodka and put it in a water bottle and drink it in class so i could consintrate. my teacher was understanding and didnt want to kick me out of the program for good so he set me up with a detox where i will have to go first before i go back. i got really emotinal when we were talking about it and decided its what i need to do.

i drank after the program last night and was spose to go into detox this morning but slept in an hour and missed it. so now i have to wait till monday. i cant not drink until then or i will probably die i couldent even imagin not having anything to drink i dont know what would happen to me. last week i had to leave because i was having a panic attack in class so i hadf to go get some liquore but i had no money, i begged all my friends for money for a drink they said they didnt have any.

it was the wrost time of my life i didnt know what to do my house is an hour away on the trian, i called my dad told him to come pick me up but he said he will be a while. i was at the train station and was thinking of throwing my phone and wipping it and having a random temper trantrome. i couldent think straight i was so confused so i walked toward the liquore store so maybe ill go chug some, but on my way i asked everyone i saw for change and i got enough for a big strong can of beer. i drank it in a public washroom and i was ok, i was then planning on going home but there was some hobos who were also drinking in the washroom so i got drunk with them i was just going to have one of there beers and leave but that turned into more and i was smashed yet again.

these bad experinces made me relieze i dont have to live like this, at a young age. although i have only been drinking for about 5 years and drinking exsessivly for 3 years. im worried because i have a dull pain in my liver and i think it may just be fatty liver. i was wondering what are some things i can do to heal myself before i go to detox, i will of course only need when i need it as little as i need. im not to worried because i read it takes about ten years to get cirrhoses and i do eat healthy and walk alot every day. i also read coffee can lower the change of getting cirrhoses to 1 in 5. other websights said coffee is bad for your liver. witch is it? but from what i read i think coffee is good for it. but what are some things i can do before i go to detox to help myself. i want to detox at home with weening witch i have done many times because im scared at detox the medication might not work or it might take to long to kick in. because if i dont have a drink i will go insane and i dont see witch medication can be so simmiler to alcohol to help.

just please help thank you

Call a rehab center or ask your family for an intervention.

You need to have a medical detox. Your sleeping in was your way of standing in your own way of success which is common with alcoholics and drug addicts. Your best bet is to go the ER of the local public hospital. Tell them that you have a place in the detox center, but that you need to stay clean for two days until Monday and you don't feel medically that you can do it due to the DTs, which is what you have experienced with the panic and all. There is no medication you need. You don't need to substitute drugs for alcohol.. bad bad thing to try. Get checked into the hospital and they can keep you safe until Monday when you can get into detox. Go with all of your info with you so they know you are serious, can contact the detox center and verify, etc.

It is too difficult to become detoxed on your own.
It is also very dangerous for you to do so without
medical help. You need to be monitored closely
so that your body will make it through this.

You are trying to take the first steps in doing well
for yourself. The doctors have medications that
can help you with some of the symptoms of
coming off the alcohol. IF the doctor knows you
are serious in doing this...he may place you into
a detox program with the hospital.

The doctor does different blood tests to check you:
1) the liver enzymes to see if your liver/biliary cells
have become damaged.
[These tests are known as the ALT, AST, GGT, ALP}
2) the liver function tests to see how well the liver
cells are able to perform the necessary functions to
keep your body well
[These tests are known as the Bilirubin, INR, Albumin,
Pt, Ptt]
3) the liver viral blood bests to see if a virus has entered
the body and is using your liver cells to replicate itself.
[virus like Hepatitis A,B,C,etc}
4) the liver cancer test known as the alpha feto protein.
This only requires giving a couple vials of blood.
If you want to learn about these blood tests, you can
insert that type of blood test on this site and it will
tell you about each one:
http://www.labtestsonline.org

The doctor can also exam you: he may place his
hand in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen
and press up under your rib cage, where your
liver is at. If the liver has developed inflammation
from the liver cells becoming damaged, he may
be able to tell, if the liver has enlarged in size
because of this. He can only feel the very bottom
portion of the liver if this happens to be, though.
He may order an ultrasound (no pain at all) to
look at your liver and biliary area.

Liver disease starts out as inflammation and
an enlargement of the liver. If the cause
(in this case it would be alcohol) is stopped
and the inflammation is treated...then the liver
cells may heal and the problem can be reversed.
However, once the liver cells start to die off
and form scar tissue inside the liver that can
block the flow of blood...then it is cirrhosis of
the liver and it becomes a progressive disease.
How fast a person can develop Cirrhosis depends
on sensitive they are to what caused it.

If you understand that the liver takes toxins out of
the body and converts them to a non toxic form that
the body can easily dispose of, then this is what
can happen in alcohol addiction:
1) overconsuming alcohol in a short time period
doesn't give the liver time to convert the alcohol
to acetaldehyde, then to acetate, then to C02
and water. Not converted completely, it can be toxic
to the liver cells
2) overconsuming alcohol over long time periods
can lead to the build up of fat inside the liver.
The liver is surrounded by a tight membrane capsule.
The pressure on the cells can cause them damage.
This can activate the immune system to respond to
this and cause inflammation inside the liver and
then enlargement. It is then no longer simple fatty
liver, but Steatohepatitis (steato means fat, hepat means
liver and itis means inflammation)
3) Some people are more sensitive to alcohol and some
are even allergic to it. That means that it may not
take much alcohol to cause a problem in some and no
problem in others.
4) Taking drugs with alcohol can cause such an
interaction between them that they can instantly damage
the liver cells.

Anyone who drinks alcohol, in order to be evaluated for
placement on the transplant list, "according to most
Transplant Centers rules", have to be detoxed from
alcohol for a period of six months prior to the evaluation
process (with proof).

Besides being helped by a detoxed program, there are
other things that can also help. Eatting a well balanced
diet. Trying to get all your vitamins/minerals from the
food you eat. Try to stay away from others who are sick
or have been around others who are sick. Wash all
fresh fruits and vegetables other handle in the stores.
Avoid preservatives, prepackaged, and fast food.
Avoid open salad/food bars that people can accidentally
cough or sneeze into. Use disinfectant wipes on
shopping cart handles, door knobs, tv controller,
bathroom fixtures, etc. Wash hands often and use
hand germ killers in between times. You don't want
to become sick with something else that would require
you to take additional medications or weaker your body
more, while your liver is trying to heal.

Best wishes to you. It is wonderful that you are taking
the right steps toward your final goal of being well
again. You can do it...others, that I know, have done it.
