I have a huge problem with people touching my food?!

Question: I have a huge problem with people touching my food?
I can't eat out because I don't like when people touch my food. I am always scared I might get infected by something. I don't even like it when the cashier touches my food by accident or talk near my food even though they didn't make it. I eat everything at home, made by myself. Anytime someone buys take out for me or a meal from a restaurant, I have to throw it away. I know that is a waste of food, but I can't help it. I am really paranoid about other people preparing/touching my food. What should I do? And when I am at school and people want to piss me off they touch my food because they know that I can't eat it. And one time when I tried to get over it and ate a piece of bread touched by my friend. I gaged and threw up. I just could not do it. What should I do.

What you describe are classic symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder, or OCD. This is not uncommon. You can treat it with medication and perhaps visiting a psychologist. Rent the movie "As Good As It Gets". It's a really good movie, and the protagonist has OCD just like you. It's due to the way your brain works. It doesn't turn off anxiety as it should and so you get this vicious cycle of worry. And you do need to get this dealt with, because, due to the nature of it, it typically only gets worse with age, unless you steer yourself back onto the right path. Good luck!

Not to be mean but I'm going to be straight about this: you need to see a therapist about this. You need to stop thinking about this! It's already making you sick dear.

Well you are playing it safe especially in the winter time when people even cooks etc come to work with colds etc. I feel like you about food but not that drastic. Tell people up front not to buy you take out food so your not wasting their money. I guess cook your own at home and course carry a hand sanitizer to use after leaving a public place. I keep mine in the glove compartment.

You dont need to see a shrink etc Its just being protective of your self!!

Good Luck!

PS I never have ice cream where people has to bend over and scoop it out their self. I think of all the hairs, skin, etc etc that falls off them into it. YUK!
