Does Vitamin D effect skin tone/coloration?!

Question: Does Vitamin D effect skin tone/coloration?
This is the first winter I have taken a vitamin D supplement, and not only is it the first winter that I am not completely depressed, it is also the first winter that I have not turned completely pasty white. Though I am pretty white, I have a nice healthy tone as apposed to the pasty white I usually get in winter. Is this because of the vitamin D?

Answers:

Are you also eating more fruits and vegetables this winter?
I just read a report that stated a diet higher in vegetables high in carotene and darker colored fruits can actually add to a "healthy skin tone".
I doubt it is the vitamin d.
You do know our bodies make vitamin d from sunshine right?

I have no (medical) way of knowing for certain, but I would NOT be surprised in the least if this were the case!

Ever since I got my levels back up, I feel much healthier. I felt "so" bad, that I went straight to a tanning bed (after 2 decades of actively avoiding the sun, and daily sunscreen use), however my level went from 10ng/L to 56 ng/L in 6 weeks.

If you see pictures of me before I got my level back up, I looked "unhealthy" pale. You can still be pale, but have a healthy look to it.
