Do you think my esophagus is torn?!

Question: Do you think my esophagus is torn?
My throat has been hurting at a very minimal the past week or so and I've noticed I can taste blood in my mouth sometimes but when I spit there's no blood in it. I went to the ER a few weeks ago because my sides were hurting and they did blood & urine tests which came back good, but I'm really worried about my esophagus, I know I should go to the doctor and I will, but I haven't had any past throat operations and the only things I could imagine tearing it would be bosco sticks which I eat at school, which are hard breadsticks with cheese in them, or chicken, but I haven't swallowed any bones.

I'm 16 years old.

if it is painful/uncomfortable to eat, then it is a possibility.

Do you have any acid reflux? That would show up like belching or like food coming up to the throat and ghen going back down as you swallow and it would burn. That would be acid coming up and it can burn the throat and the esophagus. Speak to your doctor about this and find out what might be happening. They will check your hemoglobin levels and should be able to tell you more about this. You might take upper GI test to see if there is a problem with the gastro intestinal tract.

I don't believe that its torn. And if so, it will heal on its own with that minimal trauma that you said may have caused it. It sounds like it may be a bleeding ulcer in your throat. I suggest garggling with salt water for a couple of days, and if that doesn't help- go ahead with seeing your physician. Good luck to you.

Obviously you have a background event that you are not being clear about. Be more specific with Drs. - they have seen it ALL. STDs can show up in the throat. Don't fool around - go back to your Physician !!

Common sense.

If your esophagus was torn- you would be bleeding copious amounts of blood
its most likely a slight infection or allergy related
