advice on seizure medication?!

Question: Advice on seizure medication?
My boyfriend is 29 years old and has had epilepsy since he was nine months old. Various reasons causes his seizures ranging from stress, missed does, and overheating in the summer. He was on tegretol topamax and depakote all of which he stopped taking because of headaches. I was reading somewhere about ativan being a seizure med. Does anyone know if this causes headaches.

You say your boyfriend stopped taking the meds because of headaches. Does his doctor know this? For some folks with seizures, migraines are a close cousin. I know this from 37 years' of experience with both. Docs will work with patients to get the meds/side effects at optimum. Not taking sz meds is not only risky to his health, but dangerous to anyone else if he's driving a car. My seizure triggers are really familiar: heat in the summer, missed doses, lack of sleep, stress, and a few other random triggers. I'd be more worried about the damage he's self-inflicting by having seizures. He needs to be seen by a doc a.s.a.p. and get back on meds of some kind.

i once took everything he take. right now i take the generic of ativan, lorazepam.

headache is a side effect of ativan. also lightheaded, dizziness and drowsiness
