Heart stopped while out? Tell someone?!

Question: Heart stopped while out? Tell someone?
I was hanging out with my friends when I got really dizzy and couldn't stand or see and passed out. My boyfriend said he didn't feel a pulse for 2 minutes until my ICD (internal defibrillator) finally worked and shocked me back. They were gonna call 911 but he decided against it after he felt a pulse. I feel okay now, but should I tell my parents or something? My knuckles are blue/purple, im a little lightheaded, and I've got edema in my calves, but that's pretty normal for me.

What do I do? Ignore that it happened?
Oh I have dilated cardiomyopathy if that matters.

Answers:

I believe that any time a patient who has an AICD receives a "shock" she is to immediately call the doctor/go to the ED (depending on how rare is is).

Yes you have a bad chronic illness, but your heart shouldn't just "stop" for no reason.
You need to get checked out, ASAP!

Yes! Tell your parents! Now!

You should contact your cardiologist. (S)he can read out the ICD to see what was going on.
