If I get sick, who will take care of me?!
Question: If I get sick, who will take care of me?
I don't have anyone to come over. I have always made it on my own. I just turned 50 this month.
I am unemployed. (I am a guy). I worry about what would happen to me if I got cancer, or some
other slow moving death. How long would I be able to care for myself before it became impossible
to do so anymore? Where would I go? Who would I turn to? I don't have any family except a few
cousins in a different state who I have only met once when I was a kid
I did serve in the military for 2 years during peace time, and received an honorable discharge.
Is the V.A. a place I could turn to when I am no longer able to care for myself? I have been
thinking about these things lately, especially since I am unemployed. (I am a truck driver by trade).
My mom died of cancer, my dad heart disease. Thanks for you input.

I wish I had an answer for you because that way I could help myself out at the same time. I'll be 49 in four months, I'm unemployed, I haven't been able to work for the last twenty year because of health reason, cannot get disability because I only work 2 years before I ruptured a disc in my back, and work was over for me. My husband left after 23 years, too tired to stay with someone sick all the time. I go days without eating and other things because of no money. I have a 21 years old son, whom I love very much, but he's in college three hours away, so I cannot count on him, the rest of my family is back home in Italy, it's like they don't exist anymore, I can't reach them.Pretty shitty life isn't it. I wonder were you are, perhaps we could take care of each other. Good luck!
