How to overcome "depression"?!

Question: How to overcome "depression"?
My family is lately been going though a lot of problems; heath and financial problems, relative's death, etc.
and now it is up to a point, that there is some sort of depression.
Me, a grade 12 student, have lots to worry about, including school and social things.
So lately, my friends have noticed, that I am a happy person (jolly) at school now, but at
home its just silence or someone is complaining. My family already received all help possible from
the outside, but fro some reason problems keep increasing. I do not want to deal with this, so I just do not want to be at home, but this is where I live, and I will always live here.
So I was wondering, if there is a way to overcome my depression?
What I have tried: To smile all the time and force to be happy (it works), to talk to positive people, to talk to negative people, to talk to my family, tried to go out for a walk and to a store, to ignore my problems, to ignore talking to negative people, delete facebook, look up how to avoid negative energy, just do my homework with the headphones on, ignoring the rest of the world, etc.
Are there additional things that I could do? I just want the negative things to be gone for good.
Thank you for taking your time to reply to my question.

Answers:

honestly, you're not in a "depression", you're just a teenager. every teen hates being at home, whether bad things have been happening at home or not, that is most likely just coincedental. i'm going through the same stuff right now, hating being at home, slightly depressed, etc., but i'm also a sex addict and i almost NEVER have sex so that is a definite source of my problems.... but seriously, it'll pass, just give it some time, wait it out and you'll be ok, i promise :)

Just rest in a whole day and rest your mind.

The one thing that I found most useful was to write in a journal. Talk about your joys, troubles, fears, what makes you happy, what makes you sad, anything interesting you learn or find, your current hobbies, and everything else in between. Once you have written for a while, you can re-read your journal and find patterns of your ups and downs, find causes for your feelings, and be able to understand yourself a little better. Here are some benefits of keeping a journal:

1. You can vent, get things off your chest. This alone can help you feel a lot better.
2. When you are sad, you can read through your journal and read about happy times in your life, and they can uplift you.
3. When you are confused, you can read your journal and figure out patterns of complicated problems, and learn to anticipate things or control your emotions better.
4. You can list points about things that bug you, and when you need to talk to people for help or to confront someone, you have a list of well-thought-out points to discuss so you can make a better explanation to them about how you feel.
5. You get to know yourself better.

Hope this helps. If you still have a hard time and you seem to be in a rut of depression, I recommend you try to get out of the house as much as possible. Explore. Ride your bike. Physical exercise releases endorphins in your brain, which helps you feel better:

Also, force yourself to laugh. Laughing also releases endorphins. If you laugh even if something isn't funny, you can trick your mind into thinking it's laughing at something good, and it will release endorphins.

Also, I have found that setting small goals (like, "Today I will bike for an hour" or "This week I will read this book") and reaching them will help you feel better about yourself.

If none of these work for you, I recommend you see someone for help. Good luck.

Went through depression junior year of high school and overcame it.
