What dangers/complications are there (besides no reproductivity) of having your !

Question: What dangers/complications are there (besides no reproductivity) of having your reproductive system removed?
This is for females. Besides not being able to reproduce, (obviously,) are there any bizarre or weird effects along with the surgery? And is the surgery itself relatively safe (for a surgery, derp) or possibly very dangerous?
Thanks.

Now im not a doctor, and really should be the one to explain all of this. From what i learned in school was possible chance of infection and hormonal problems. it depends on what type of surgery you are getting, just a shot in the dark but are you talking about a hysterectomy? In my OR rotation in school i got to see one. Some hospitals have a crazy machine called a Da Vinci and it has these robot hands (you know those pincher claw looking things that kids play with and they are shaped like lions are sharks?)and they make a couple of incisions and robot does all the work. The doctor is actually on the other side of the room managing the arms like a video game... very weird usually the surgery can take up to three hours without the Da Vinci ... instead half an hour... and the chance of infection drops as well becuase they didnt have to cut as much.

Anyway my mom had a hysterectomy long time ago and she asked the doctor to leave in one ovary so she wouldnt hit menopause early. makes sense. i think there are some hormonal changed that can happen but im sure the doctor can put you on some hormone therapy for afterwards.

hope you do well!!

It's a major surgery. If only the uterus is removed, the effects can be mild, and positive if the patient has had problems with bleeding, pain, fibroids, cancer etc. If the ovaries are removed the consequences are more serious, as the patient enters instant menopause and faces the risks of that (heart disease, osteoporosis, etc.) and/or of hormone replacement (breast cancer). The vagina is usually not removed except in cases of vaginal cancer or gender reassignment.
