I mixed olive oil with petroleum jelly (Vaseline). How long until it goes bad?!
Question: I mixed olive oil with petroleum jelly (Vaseline). How long until it goes bad?
I mixed it with oil becasue there is vitamins in olive oil and i thought it would be better for lips
It's very good, it's just like petroleum jelly
But I made too much and I just realised that the oil can go bad
It might take me a few months to finish it. Would it go bad by then?

Answers:
Olive oil doesn't "go bad," it just eventually oxidzes and becomes rancid. All this really effects is its taste; it's not harmful if ingested past expiration, just nasty tasing. Assuming you keep it stored in a sealed container and away from heat, it will last just as long as any ordinary olive oil, so about a year. The two substances will start to separate, though; both are pretty oily and don't mix with other compounds easily. You'll have to re-mix it pretty often.
