What happens to the body when you overdose ? What happens physically?!

Question: What happens to the body when you overdose ? What happens physically?
When someone takes an overdose, what exactly does it do to the body. I have overdosed in the past, and I know that people may get kidney o rliver damage.. luckily for me, that never happened. However, I did develop cardiac problems due to all the overdoses.. But how does the body react to being pretty much poisoned by a whole bunch of pills ? I never once threw up. Never. I was always found unresponsive and rushed to the hospital and spent days in the Intensive Care Unit, on a heart monitor, iv, everything imagineable.. So how does the body react and what happens if you take a pill that is XR ( extended release ).. when does it go into the body

Answers:

Different chemicals have very different effects upon the body - there are literally hundreds of different things that too much of any particular substance can have, upon the human body: each "poison" (recall however, that it is the dosage which makes the poison: even water if you drank **gigantic** amounts of it, can be harmful, hence "poisonous"!!). If you want to know the effects of an overdose of a particular thing, just do a bit of internet searching. For example, if you want to know what the effects of an aspirin overdose, just go to Bing or Google and type in aspirin overdose effects .

What happens to your body after you overdose on medications depends on what the medication was. Some substances damage your liver, some your kidneys, some your heart, etc. It also depends on things like how much medication was taken, what other substances were also in your system, and what other underlying medical conditions you have. Unfortunately, there is no universal answer about what to expect from an overdose. Toxicology (the study of toxins, I.e., the guys at "Poison Control") is a whole subspecialty of medicine. There are physicians whose entire career is based on treating overdoses and poisonings.
