Depression can certainly shorten your lifespan as well as boredom and isolation.

To answer your title.. Yes. Depression is by far a silent killer. I'm often depressed.. due to problems, and having OCD and anorexia.. again.

Depression isn't a nice thing, but affects people differently. I find I often feel negative and optimistic about things, I don't feel like myself, I find myself consistently being upset about anything and everything. I go in moods, and take it out on people, and prefer to be on my own. Depression isn't nice.. it takes away the voice you have, and leaves you in silence, unable to speak out..

I don't think you have depression, by the sounds of it, it's more on the medical side.. I suggest you take it further if your that worried. Depression doesn't affect your focus and vision, nor should it make you feel fatigued.. unless you've lost weight rapidly because of it..

Get it checked out and possibly look into getting further tests?

If the Doctor took blood test he would know if you had Mono or Toxo, I'm sure you don't have that. Did you hit you head, that could be why your vision is going bad and focus. Why would your Mom think it's depression, have you been upset about things and feeling down lately, are you having panic attacks or anything like that,How long have you been feeling this way? There is alot of question , we need to know more before depression can be an symptom. Sorry just don't know enough from you, Wish I could have helped!!
