Is there something like adderall that gives the same affects but I don't ne!

Question: Is there something like adderall that gives the same affects but I don't need a prescription for?
I am a college student and I have to stay up so late working on projects. I have taken adderall before and it has helped me so much. I wouldn't need it all the time just on all nighters, to stay focused and awake and for the next day to stay awake and alert to pay attention. Does anybody know of anything that I could get that I wouldn't need a prescription for or anything that could help? Thanks so much!

Answers:

I don't recommend all-nighters, especially before exams, and I especially discourage you from using drugs illegally or otherwise to keep yourself up, but since you asked...

Caffeine is usually the non-prescription drug of choice for people looking to stay awake and alert. You can get it from soft drinks, coffee, "energy drinks", and in pill form (e.g., No-Doz).

Some people find pseudoephedrine (the behind-the-counter decongestant, like Sudafed) keeps them up.

Any drug you use will probably also have side effects, like making you jittery, giving you an irregular heartbeat, and possibly making you a little paranoid or hyperactive. In the unlikely worst-case scenario, it could make you manic. Of course, sleep deprivation can have some of those effects, too. Some people are more sensitive than others to the effects of these medications, and I do *not* recommend combining them.

Non-drug strategies for keeping yourself awake include:
- drinking lots of cold water (it will make you have to pee)
- exposing yourself to a lot of light, especially in the blue wavelengths (sunlight is a good source -- won't help overnight but a morning walk could help you stay alert the next day)
- exercise -- take short, brisk walks throughout the day (ideally, somewhere safe, where being a little dazed won't cause you to get hit by a car)
- don't sit in one place too long
- do it with friends who can help keep you stimulated
- loud music

Be safe in whatever you do. Don't drive on too-little sleep. And try to plan ahead so you don't have to resort to all-nighters! (Easier said than done, I know.)

Crystal meth.

Literally, it's a step above Adderall. Adderall is an amphetamine and Desoxyn (prescription methamphetamine) is the next drug to treat ADHD.

And honestly, if you don't have ADHD, maybe you should stop ruining it for those of us who do and need this drug just to get by on a day to day basis. You're being like a boxer on steroids. Do your work ahead of time and you don't need to pull all nighters.

ephedrine. I've seen it at Speedway gas stations, but I've never taken any. Look it up
