Taking Metronidazole- can I eat Jack Daniels Pulled Chicken?!

Question: Taking Metronidazole- can I eat Jack Daniels Pulled Chicken?
I'm taking the antibiotic, metronidazole, and was told to avoid all alcohol- even hidden in foods. Well, I made a ready-made Jack Daniels pulled chicken dinner without even thinking! After I cooked it, I checked the ingredients and of course, Whiskey is listed- about half-way. I would think the actual alcohol would be cooked-out but at the same time, I would figure most foods (like cakes etc...that's what the pharmacist warned about) would have the alcohol removed during cooking. So I'm assuming that even so, it still might make me sick.

Anyone know? All the pharmacies are closed but one, and they are so busy, it's impossible to get a hold of someone to talk to.

And BTW: I had a c-section 4 weeks ago so throwing up probably wouldn't be a whole lot of fun (though it never is!) even though my wound is not "fresh" anymore.

Thanks!

Answers:

Who knows how much actual whiskey would be left in the dish after the company performed its cooking process, and you heated it in the microwave. Could be very little to none.

Nevertheless, because of the warnings about mixing metronidazole and alcohol, this falls under the category of "better safe than sorry," Offer it to your husband or neighbor and make something else for dinner. This medication and alcohol together produce a very negative reaction in the body including flushing, nausea, and vomiting. I wouldn't risk it, failing more precise knowledge of package contents.
