How to get rid of Shaving Rash/Razor Burn?!

Question: How to get rid of Shaving Rash/Razor Burn?
I shave and it goes all red and spotty and looks very unattractive. It is in one certain area and ive tried loads of things such as Sudo cream, moisturiser, exfloliating before and after, a razor burn liquid/oil thats meant to cure it, body oil everything! and it just looks so unattractive, any ideas? I change my razor all the time and have been waxed before but that leaves me with ingrown hairs. Hair removal cream does not work and lazer treatment is out of the question as its too expensive for me.

I used to have this problem constantly, I've minimised it by doing the following, so see if there's anything you haven't tried:

- Don't shave too often - limit to twice a week max to give skin time to recover. Conitinue to exfoliate in between times, but not directly before you shave. Also moisturise every day. Well moisturised skin is easier to shave.

- Never use anything less than the best men's razors. Ignore the existence of women's razors, they're no good on anyone with sensitive skin, male or female. And don't touch cheap disposables. Wilkinson Sword and Gilette do some good ones. But my favorite is King of Shaves. A good razor will set you back about £5-7 at least. Change the blades evry two or three times you use it and keep it somewhere where it won't rust.

- Ideally shave in the bath, or at least the shower so you can keep the skin wet and warm. Take your time, pull the skin on the area you're shaving taut so that the blade glides over it easily and without dragging. Don't, whatever you do, rush.

- Use a shaving gel designed for sensitive skin. Don't use normal soap.

- Always rinse and moisturise afterwards. Use a gentle moisturiser for sensitive skin. (I like Dream Cream from Lush), or mix a bit of aqueous cream with a bit of Savlon and a drop of tea tree oil to make your own.

- if the rash does appear, use this trick: crush up a couple of aspirin and then mix it to a thick paste using a few drops of warm water. Now smear that over the affected area. It should lessen the rash considerably.

- Don't stress. I always get worse rash when i'm stressed!

It may be quite a simple answer this.

Namely shaving properly. I had the same as you fir years until I learnt to shave on the correct manner.

Ok. Get a decent blade: I use Wilkibson sword quattro, but the gillete one will do. Change the blade at least once per week.

When your skin is dry run your thumb along your beard and find the easiest / smoothest directions for you face and neck. My neck has three directions in three parts: up for the down for my osophogus, left for my left part and right for tge right part of my neck: yours may be different. That easy direction is the way your hairs grow and thats the way you shave NOT against the growth which will digg into your skin.

Try it for a few days youll find it works and tge rash will go down.

One other thing, use a gel for sensitive skin not an oil like king of shaves

It sounds like you have a skin condition unrelated to the shaving and that when you shave, it inflames it. Have you been getting enough Magnese? If not that's a good way to get a nice little area of inflamed red, pimple like bumps that don't go away. It creates a nice little deposit of the minerals that Magnese helps break down. Look at your nails, do you have white spots on any of them? And do you have a crack in the middle of your tongue? If yes, then you need more green leafy veg in your diet and need to add some squash to it as well.

Try aloe vera gel, get the purest from health food shops, also I would look at what you use with shaving. Foam can really irritate the skin with a lot of harmful ingredients, go natural with your shaving products and you may see a result. Also how you shave wet/dry can effect skins reaction, if yours is sensitive spend a little more time over it.

It's amazing! Good luck! http://milanstreet.info/29464/body-oils
