How do I treat a burn?!

Question: How do I treat a burn?
I was sitting down about to eat but then I knocked over my soup (which was fresh off the stove) and it landed all over the stomach area of my shirt and a majority of both my thighs. I stood there for a moment, waiting for my clothes to cool a little before I took them off, but seeing as it wouldn't cool, I quickly took them off and I wet a cloth with cold water and I put it over my thighs, doing the same to my stomach. Keeping the cloth on it helps, but I need to clean the mess, and when I take the cloth off it starts burning. What do I do? Oh, and the areas are turning red...

It's going to be sore for a day or 2. Keep doing the cool compresses will help. As for cleaning the mess, you will just have to do it, and then resume the cool cloth. Taking an anti-inflamatory like Motrin or aleve will help to.

I am a RN, BSN

My parents always tolled my to use mustered or butter on my burns, but if it gets to bad i would suggest seeing a Doctor, they might be able to give you a cream or something
