Why is marijuana a gateway drug?D?!

Question: Why is marijuana a gateway drug?D?
I just wanted to know why people think marijuana is a gateway drug?

If it were legal and if people taught there children the right way, would it be a gateway drug.

Almost 80% of americans have used marijuana, many during there teen years.

It seems today the school systems walk up to kids and say, hey don't drink and drive(not don't drink). Then they say don't smoke marijuana it will make you a heroin addict, they're the exact same thing.

My point is this. Would it be that bad if marijuana was decriminalized and we taught kids it was no more dangerous than alcohol?

I can't really comprehend why tobacco is still legal, it is by far the worst drug on earth? What is it's medical purpose? By the way please don't say marijuana kills the brain cells, it is proven that statement is false, and I do not care for your ignorance.

We teach the kids if they smoke marijuana they will never ammount to anything, well it just so happens an ex marijuana smoker is the most powerful man on earth currently(obama).

People want to blame marijuana as a gateway drug so that people stay away from it, so people have a reason for it to be illegal. Marijuana is the most popular illegal drug, and it's the more available than crack/cocaine, meth and heroin. You don't see someone starting off with heroin. If you did, we would call heroin a gateway drug. Before I tried weed, I always had dreams about trying it, and I had thought about it before. It's because majority of people know what marijuana is, because most drug users use marijuana, propagandist target the plant. There is NO chemicals that lead to addiction in marijuana either.
Harry J. Anslinger actually came up with most marijuana myths, including "if you use marijuana, you will become a heroine addict." It is bullshit. In 104 marijuana users only 1 uses cocaine, and less than 1 uses other hard drugs.
Marijuana is safer than alcohol, and it should be legalized for the sake of the children. If it is a controlled substance, it is harder for minors to get possession of. Society has built a pyramid that is anti-marijuana, so it would be hard to legalize marijuana though, decriminalizing it would be better, but it would still be easily available to children.
Tobacco is legal because so many people are addicted, if they stopped marketing tobacco, chaos would erupt. It should be illegal though, it is poison and it kills over 400,000 Americans annually.
Obama also used cocaine and said no to heroin. Unfortunately he is a huge hypocrite. Allowing over 700,000 Americans to be penalized annually for marijuana related "crimes".

Additional Comments:
I also believe tobacco is still legal because the governments and world leaders believe the world is over populated. They fund tobacco companies. Governments are EVIL!

I agree with you. I can't really see most people smoking or disgusting Marijuana craving to experiment on other drugs.

The only hypothesis I can possibly come up with is perhaps some drug addicts see that marijuana doesn't have negative effects so they move on to other drugs expecting no negative effects

It is as much of a gateway drug to heroine as kool-aid powder is to cocaine.
It's all political; lots of rich people have lots of rich interests in the prohibition, hence why hemp's not legal to mass produce and is likened to it's much more THC-ladden counterpart.

Obama is a puppet; who cares what he used to do. And he used to smoke tobacco, so what does that say about your 'worst drug on earth' argument .

Is this really a question so much as a 'prove me wrong'? In any case it isn't a gateway drug; that is a ridiculous concept. I ate Cheerios and then shot some heroine; for the love of GOD, outlaw Cheerios, that is clearly my problem.

If someone does drugs or drinks same thing, a addiction. I think people say will lead to heroin and other drugs is the fact that the person may be hanging around the wrong people and ended up getting more of a high. Marijuana is not good for you as for tobacco they are getting more and more tight rules on it. Many states you can not smoke in most business places, hospitals, bar. We should not teach kids to do either but say no. When your a adult you make those decisions and hopefully it is a phase. Both ruin people and families. It is used for cancer patients and that is for a purpose not to just get high. For President Obama and many people in high places were just regular people and did things as other teens have. The thing is they knew when to stop.

Well for one thing weed is very well a gateway drug because its so close to the euphoric feeling, and close to halucinatives in a way. and is just so happenes that most kids start out drinking. And to me Pot is kind of a juvenile thing, because like what you say about 805 of americans have tried pot, and most of them don't continue when they're older. think of it this way, you start out drinking at age 15, and you do it for a year, but the feeling gets old after awhile and you want to try something new for a change, and you try weed, than you start to wonder what halucinating is like. Cigarettes are never going to be outlawed and thats that. And you really shouldn't teach kids that any kind of mind altering substance is good, even alcohal. as a parent you jsut have to accept the fact that your kid is going to be curious and try things. if he gets hooked thats a secondary conversation. And I'm not aggreeing or disagreeing with your statement about weed killing brain cells. Its like Globabl warming, theres just as much evidence the prove its not happening as there is enought o prove it is.
