i started my birth control for the first time in january. i took it at 3:35 PM that month... then this month i am taking it at 9:20 because i couldn't find the new pack in time so i had to change it. is it honestly okay to do that?

That's perfectly fine. A lot of people change their timing because it's just easier for them. Don't change it around too much though... I knew a girl who took it at a different time everyday and then got a lot of problems with her hormones (acne, excess hair, oily scalp, spotting). You can change the timing and have sex the next day and have absolutely no problems with pregnancy risk.
