Is a hospital pharmacy open 24/7?!
Question: Is a hospital pharmacy open 24/7?
What hours do the pharmacists work and what kind of salary
(You can answer this on any health service not just the NHS)
Answers:
No, they are not.
Hospital pharmacies are not open 24/7. They are open longer than conventional street pharmacies to cover for hospital outpatients departments prescriptions and ward discharges. But they are not 24/7.
Some emergency pharmacy service is available in most cities. Ie the 24/7 pharmacy. In Newcastle the pharmacy is in Tesco's at Kingston Park Newcastle.
If you are thinking of becoming a pharmacist you will need to enrol and complete a first degree as a BS Batchelor of Science degree and then follow it with appropriate training for more qualifications normally in house. The salary of a pharmacist equates to that of a newly qualified teacher around 21k and rises due to experience and further qualifications.
The hours you would get are according to the contract you negotiate with the pharmacy company.
Not all BS graduates work in pharmacies, some go on to do a Science based Masters or PHD and then go on to become laboratory research scientists or work in a testing lab.
Academic.
