Is it normal to have green diarrhea?!

Question: Is it normal to have green diarrhea?
I also have a stomach ache now, is all that normal?

Answers:

Green stool is a normal occurrence. Although colored food can cause stool to be colored, the main cause of green stool is bile. Your liver constantly excretes bile to help digest, absorb, vitamins and fats in your food. It starts out green, then, as your food progressively moves down, it turns brown. It's still green because, obviously, it moved way to fast through the intestines.
However, green DIARRHEA is a different story all together. The most common cause could be bowel irregularity or bacterial overgrowth. Ever seen those Activia commercials? For this common condition you would eat that.
But green diarrhea can also be caused by Irritable Bowel Syndrome or I.B.S, which it sounds like you don't have based on your original question. It seems to me this is the first time this has happened.
So, the most logical answer to your problem here is you may have food poisoning. So, you have a stomach ache now? Is it cramping, like knotting, or twisting pain? Do you have a fever? Is there mucus in your stool? And is the diarrhea explosive(are you unable to hold it)? or are you nauseous or vomiting? Aches and pains? Headache? Also, what have you eaten in the past 36 hours? Any eggs or meat, fish, lettuce, restaurant food? Or have you handled any of these without properly washing your hands? I know some of these questions are gross, but they're important for a correct diagnosis.
However, I am not a doctor and you shouldn't seek medical advice here only. Your best bet is to call your doctor or their office nurse. Remember, though, to keep hydrated constantly. And if you feel like you've been hit by a car, with a fever and diarrhea, DO NOT take any anti-diarrhea medications or anything for vomiting. Your body is trying to get rid of whats making you sick and if you take these medicines, you'll only prolong your illness. Absolutely NO grease(i.e. butter, oil), no sugar, and no dairy. Sugar will dehydrate you, and oils will make you barf. If you have cinnamon sticks, boil these to make a nice cinnamon tea. Its a Mexican remedy that treats nausea, and it will keep you hydrated. Jell-O, too(Not Pudding). And dry toast and crackers will ease your stomach and keep you full.
I really hope this helps. Please call your doctor though and consider my home remedies. Get Well Soon!

"As bile makes its way through the intestines, it progressively changes color from green to yellow to brown, due to the action of bacteria in the large intestine on the bile salts.

Green stool often indicates that food has passed through the intestines faster than normal (called decreased bowel transit time), before it could be changed from green to brown."

Did you eat something with a lot of blue or green dye. Like frosted cookies or something. For example, consuming a lot of sugar will cause diarrhea.

It's a message from your body saying the St. Patrick's Day is coming up! Seriously ask your doctor. and your body is strange like that.
