Question: Does this sound like a urinary tract infection?
so my little girl has been going potty every half an hour or so for the past couple of days??? (she is 4 by the way)... and i ask her why and she said it feels funny down there... and at first i thought it was a game to stay up later at night but i want to be sure... and she normally goes potty every 2 hours or so and at night time it is worse it is like every 5 minutes... which like i said i thought it was just a game but i am not so sure now that she is doing it during the day... and if it is one what steps do i take to prevent future ones... also when she bathes she doesnt use bubble bath or anything like that... and when she pees there is no weird smell and her pee looks normal...

Answers:

Frequent urination, pain in the lower abdomen, a burning sensation while urinating, lower back pain, all of these are symptoms of UTIs. So, yes that could easily be a UTI. One of your first priorities should be making sure she drinks a lot. Cranberry is a proven cure for UTIs. You can give her cranberry by just giving her cranberry juice or food containing cranberries, but even better, give her cranberry supplements, which are available at almost any Walmart or pharmacy. Cranberry supplements are simply concentrated cranberry making them quite safe. One thing you should be careful of though, make sure you ALWAYS give them to her RIGHT after a meal--within 5 minutes or so--or during a meal. If she cannot swallow them, they can be opened up and their contents dumped on some food or chewed (just be careful if they are capsules because the powder can be inhaled). Good luck!

Experience treating patients with UTIs--the right way--not with antibiotics.

Go to a professional doctor...but yeah, it sounds bad. Maybe try to give her a little less to drink and dryer food until you can get more knowledgeable help.

Seriously? Call a doctor. And next time, take care of your kid better. Untreated UTIs can lead to kidney infections, you know. Better safe than sorry, and all that.
