How long does it take for people to get sick?!

Question: How long does it take for people to get sick?
I was told for adults it takes a week for the germs to get into your system to make you sick, is that true?

What about for children? Ive seen 1 child be sick and a whole preschool classroom be infected in less than a week?

Any thoughts?

Answers:

It depends what germs you are referring to, have a look at:
"Incubation period is the time elapsed between exposure to a pathogenic organism, (a chemical or radiation), and when symptoms and signs are first apparent. The period may be as short as minutes to as long as thirty years in the case of variant Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease."
