Inconsistent temperature... what could it be?!

Question: Inconsistent temperature... what could it be?
I just recently got sick (started Monday night). My temperature was normal (my usual temp is 98.5) but then I started getting a fever (101.3) but then it would drop down to 99 and stay that way for a while, and then I would suddenly be better, back to the regular 98.5. Then it dipped down to about 96, and then it shot back up to 101. It was 99 for a while, and then it went back to 98.5. As of right now, it's 98.1 which I wouldn't consider unnormal, but I'm getting the feeling I usually get when a fever is about to start.
What could this be?

Answers:

Your body temp fluctuates within a degree or two all the time. If you are sick, it has even more fluctuation. It doesn't sound like you have any issue abnormal if you have been trying to fight off a bug.

There are a whole bunch of reasons you could have a fever, and without knowing about other symptoms you may or may not have WITH this fever it is hard to help you. Here is an article about the different reasons someone may have a fever and what you may need to do about it.
