Question: When your hearing is somewhat bad at a young age, is there anything you can do to improve it?
I don't have problems hearing people at a normal level. But if they're talking in a low voice over the phone or at a loud place, I can't understand them at all. I also can't hear the mosquito ringtone (I think that's what it's called), which young people are supposed to be able to hear. I'm 21 but I've had this mild problem for a while now.

Without medical intervention, is there anything I can do to make my hearing better? Do earplugs or headphones contribute to damaged hearing?

Answers:

Headphones can damage hearing, or you can be predisposed to missing certain frequencies. Little can be done unless it is otosclerosis, then you could take calcium and other electrolytes, and hope to improve "ear bones".
