Broken butt. Or bruised. Help? ?!

Question: Broken butt. Or bruised. Help? ?
Okay so about 3 to 4 weeks ago I was over and my friends house and fell on her hardwood floor right on my butt. I hurt my toe so I really didn't notice anything about my butt. But recently its started to hurt. It doesn't hurt when I stand, lay down(sometimes), or walk. But it does hurt when I go to sit down and stand back up. Also if all my weight is on it. Its not horrible pain but it hurts. So I wanted to know if its broken or bruised. My biology teacher was talking about broken butts one day and she said there's nothing you can do about it just wait for it to heal. So should I go to the doctors? Just let it be or what? Please help. Oh I'm a freshman in high school so I'm on my butt A LOT! Thanks guys. :)

Um. Broken butts. Not a subject that comes up often on YA. Congratulations!

Anyway, it does seem kind of strange that it didn't really start hurting until weeks (apparently?) after the incident to which you attribute the injury. Perhaps something happened more recently that you're not really aware of?

My guess, anyway, is that it is, indeed, a bruise. Deep bruises can take a mighty, mighty long time to heal, and you'll feel them the whole while.

My other best guess is perhaps you chipped your tailbone (or something like). An X-ray and/or doctor's examination will at least put your mind at rest. And if it's something that can be treated, that's the best way to get started. Make an appointment with the doc. That's a lot of sitting your poor, broken butt has to endure. ; )

Good luck!

Your butt is mostly composed of fat and muscle hence called the gleuteus maxi-mus so most likely it is bruised now if you broke something it would be the tail bone. But you probably bruised your butt give it time. If you did break your tailbone there's not a lot you can do take calcium supplements because it's not like the doctor can out a cast on it

I sprained my tail bone once, but the pain was gone within a week or less. I don't know if there's anything you can do about it, but its strange that its been so long and it still hurts. Maybe just call your doctor and see what he says, and he should know if you need to be checked out or not.

You can't break your butt. You can break you're lowest vertebra which form your coccyx. But that pain you would DEFINITELY feel immediately. I'm guessing it's muscle pain.

Ive crushed my lowest 3 vertebrae twice. They now form a ball of bone and nerves.

You can't break your butt. It's more than likely just bruised. There would be no point in going to the doctors, because as you said, there would be nothing they could do.

Er.... Don't worry about it... It'll stop hurting in like an hour.

bruise

Try getting a butt massage. Lots of people will do them for free....
