Do I have an ear infection?!

Question: Do I have an ear infection?
My ear feels like something is blocking my hearing. Whenever it is quiet the is a sound in my ear that sounds like a mixture of rushing water and static. When it first started I felt a large amount of pressure in my ear. I tried to pop it but it wouldn't pop. I don't feel any pain but it's very annoying. It all started while I was sick.

Answers:

The middle ear is connected to the back of the nose by a short narrow tube, the Eustachian tube. This tube normally opens when we yawn or swallow to allow secretions to drain from the middle ear. It also keeps air pressure equal both sides of the eardrum.
Think how taking off and landing in a plane can affect ears.

A cold or allergy can block the Eustachian tube due to congestion in the nasal lining. This prevents the normal flow of fluid from the middle ear. The fluid begins to build up often causing dulled hearing, tinnitus (noises in the ear), sometimes pain.

Try an antihistamine, take your pharmacist's advice as some make people drowsy.

Take Advil Sinus that will help with the congestion.
