Burning/Pain in chest, burping?!

Question: Burning/Pain in chest, burping?
Ok, I need some serious answers here. My mom is 49 years old and she recently went to the doctor for the following symptoms that are ongoing:
*chest pain
*burning feeling in chest
*pain sometimes radiates down arm (sharp and stabbing)
*exertion seems to really bring it on (even walking up stairs can trigger the pains) and then they go away but come back at random times

The hospital said that it was just gastric reflux?? I don't know if these symptoms are part of that, but that's all they said. And every day throughout the whole day, she complains of burning, chest pains, etc.

She always burps right after she gets these pains too.
her blood pressure is fine, no alcohol, a lot of fast food, her mom had a heart attack

Answers:

It sounds a lot like acid (gastric) reflux. I have it and I get that a lot. Sometimes it's better than others. But try giving her Tums or Rolaids. It might also be good to stay from really acidic foods and eating after 7 or 8 at night. Prevacid is also an OTC drug you can buy for acid reflux that helps me. Try that and see if it helps after a few days.

Personal experience.
