Can anesthetic cause hair loss?!

Question: Can anesthetic cause hair loss?
I am a 18 year old female and ive had 4 operations in the last 6 months, all under full anesthetic.
I usually have very long, thick hair but lately ive noticed im losing quite a lot of hair and its thinning.
Also, every person in my family have thick hair too.
Could this hair loss be a side fact from the anesthetic?

Answers:

Poor you, sounds luke you've had a really hard time if it lately! I've never heard of anaesthetic causing hair loss, however due to your (I assume) hospitalisation and trauma to your body, you diet has probably changed quite a bit, and your body will be needing and using more nutrients (such as protein) for rebuilding and healing wounds etc. As protien is one of the key nutrients involved in hair, your body mayn't have had a 'surplus' amount to 'waste' on making your hair shiney. Make sure you have a fairly high calorie and high protein diet (plus vitamins and minerals) for a few weeks. Hope you're better soon. x
