Will they take an 18 year old to a pediatric hospital or a regular one?!

Question: Will they take an 18 year old to a pediatric hospital or a regular one?
I just turned 18 last month. The thing is, I look 13....15 at most! No one ever believes me when I tell them my age! I get 13 ALOT! The most I have ever gotten is 15. I still go to a pediatrician and I will continue to go to him until I'm 21. I go to Miami Children's hospital when ever I need to and all my specialists are there! I feel comfortable doing it that way because I don't look, feel, or act my age! Im pretty much a 13 year old! lol my brother is 12 and we could pass for fraternal twins! No joke....
Anyways, my question is, if one day, God forbid, I have to be taken to a hospital by ambulance or something, will they take me to a regular hospital or a peds hospital? I know If me or my mom tells them they will prob take me to a peds facility but what if im unconscious or alone? Sometimes I think if they see me unconscious and can't get info, since I look around 13 they will prob think that's my age and take me to a pediatric hospital but I don't know....
Does anyone know?
What if im in a hospital visiting someone? If I just randomly collapse and they say im 18 would they take me to their pediatric area? My mom says they will but I was wondering.

Answers:

It depends really. If you were in an ambulance, though, they'd take you to the nearest hospital. After they evaluate you there, they could decide to send you to a different hospital or keep you there. Most likely, unless requested, you'd be sent to a regular hospital because of your age.

However, I'm 14. I'm 6', I have the body of a woman, not a little girl, and they don't see me at the pediatricians unless it's for a cough or shots, etc. Otherwise they request that I go see an adult doctor because my body isn't a kids anymore. If yours still is, they'd treat it as if it was a child's, therefore maybe they *would* send you to a peds. Who knows. :P

youre an adult you dont go to a kids hospital

If your age were determined prior to arrival at the hospital, you would probably be taken to a regular hospital, not a children's hospital unless you carry a card or wear a medicalert bracelet or necklace stating your preferences. If you had no identification and there were no way to determine your age, if you look substantially younger than 18, you might be taken to a children's facility. Transition from pediatric care to adult care takes place around age 18.

What difference does it make where an ambulance would take you? Either way, they're going to treat you just the same. And an ambulance driver isn't likely to care where your mom tells them to take you. They're going to take you to the most appropriate place that can treat you quickly.

Do you have some aversion to the adult section of the hospital? Not enough bright colors on the walls?

Also, ALOT IS NOT A WORD!

Jennifer, duh. That's why I said it was NOT a word.

Ok..so lets just say...when your like 30,ad GOD forbid you collapse...the doctors are going to mistake you for a 13 year old...still? It does not matter how you act..what you look like(age wise),or how you feel. That fact IS your of legal age.Period.No doctor with any common sense is going to mistake you for a child.Again...Period.They look for identification, and don't base their 'guessing your age' on your appearance alone.Your taking this way out of context...and making it too much that what it really is.Your an adult now.Understand? Try acting like one...Take care.

Oh,and ZACH? It's properly spelled A LOT,and not ALOT. Just wanted to enlighten you.Take care.
