Question:
I need answers fast im worried!?
My grandfather is going in for surgery in the am, this is his 3rd one all for differant reasonsthis one because it is a bowl obstruction, im worried about him and the effect this will have on his body he is 76 years old, with a history of stroke hearth problems, high blood preasure, and diabetes, as of right nw he has an elevated white blood cell count (which means he has an infection somewhere in hid body) I have an ideal of how the Drs are gonna do the surgury but im really not sure what to expect, the last surgery took a big toll on him, he was on a vent long then expected, and after 3 days in ICU he got delutional, and disoriented, it took a couple of days but he was stable enough to be transfered to a rehab for physical theripy after only a week he was sent back to the hospital due to vomiting n weakness, he was found to have a small partial bowl obstruction, they treated him with meds n clear liquid diet, we got beter and went back home anfter only 1 1/2 days he ended up back in the hospital this time with a full obstruction, I feel as if there is an underlying cause to all this has onyone had a similar situation I would like to relax about all this, am I overly concerened

never been through anything like this but i am sure the doc would not operate if there were serious risks. i do know the bowel obstruction will kill him if not fixed but i would question the doc as to why he didn't fix it all in one operation. unless this has been over years but u sound as if he is in and out within months of each operation. after the operation i would seek another opinion and maybe a different doctor. it really sounds like this surgeon is ? careless or not ??? completely efficient in what he is doing. i'll say a prayer.
no ur not overly concerned in my option but just to be on the safe side spend all the time you can with him and i am sorry to here he is sick i will say a prayer for your family.
