What can cause one to experience mild and brief blackouts upon standing up?!

Question: What can cause one to experience mild and brief blackouts upon standing up?
I've never fainted, but I get mildly dizzy and do stumble for a few of seconds before I can adjust my balance. My vision goes blank and I feel somewhat lightheaded. It's not as serious as it sounds because it only lasts for a few seconds. What could be causing it?

Answers:

This very common phenomenon is known as orthostatic BP.

Sounds like your soul is being possessed by the devil. The easiest way to rid yourself of this problem is to rinse yourself in the urine of an animal. Preferably a cow or swine. I pray that you should not undergo an exorcism. Be warned! -- Kidding, In all seriousness its from low blood pressure. Try drinking a glass of V8 at night, it should fix you all up!

I am this way too, I have asthma and have always thought it was from a lack of oxygen (I have to take my inhaler a couple times a day, my asthma is pretty bad)

It could be low blood sugar, I am mildly hypoglycemic, I get that from time to time. A dab of honey will make it stop.
