Do I need a new prescription slip to switch pharmacies?!

Question: Do I need a new prescription slip to switch pharmacies?
Answers:

Generally, no, you don't need new prescription slips. Just go to your new pharmacy, and transfer all
of your medication prescriptions from the old pharmacy. Usually, there is a wait time of two days before you can pick up your medications at your new pharmacy.
Just about the only time you will need new prescription slips, is when you change your PSP (Private Service Provider) or family doctor.

Changed Pharmacies Several Times

Different states have different laws in this regard. When I lived in California, all I had to do was call my pharmacy and tell them to transfer the prescription to a different pharmacy or different location. I now live in South Carolina and they require a new written prescription slip from my doctor to change pharmacies.
The best person to ask is the pharmacist at the place you want to switch to. If you ask the place where you want to switch from, they may give you the run-around because they want to keep your business.
