Will my therapist send me to the hospital?? Please I NEED to know!!!?!

Question: Will my therapist send me to the hospital?? Please I NEED to know!!!?
I am a cutter and usually cut anywhere from once/twice a week to now once a day. But stress has increased significantly and other stuff has happened and I've now started cutting anywhere from 3-4 times per day. Also now I find that I NEED to cut, I need to feel the high where I didn't really experience that need before. My cuts haven't gotten any deeper, and I make sure to stay away from major arteries but the have INCREASED greatly in number. Will my therapist suggest that I go to the hospital for a few days? Btw I am not a minor. If so what will happen in the hospital? Please help!!!

Answers:

unfortunately your therapist will probably suggest that u indeed need inpatient hospitilization. usually in the hospital they will psychiatrically evaluate you, and keep you usually until they feel you have been stabilized and set you up with a plan for outpatient treatment. i have been hospitalized for depression, and i have always recieved outstanding treatment. although it can be scary, your well being is the most important issue here.

It's up to your therapist, they can either cover themselves and have you committed, or figure you'll be o.k. on your own, if you tell them you will be and they believe it). If your committed it's no biggie, your just there to be monitored, they'll usually do a group thing, participation voluntary, and serve bad food, but other then that, not much more to it. At some point a Dr. will evaluate you, most likely shipping you home with a change of meds within a few days. It's no biggie, but it's all up to how much of a risk your therapist thinks you are to yourself.

Regaurdless of whether he sends you or not you should volunteer yourself. People are there to help you. I know it seems like a prison and that they don't get care but people get into that field of work to help and protect people. It could help you to be surrounded by people that genuinely care about your well being and have the tools to over you safer options to deal with your stress.

To better answer your question though there is a chance he will send you. They are under obligation if they feel you are a risk to yourself or others.

If the cutting has gotten this bad, you hav to ask yourself... Would going to a hospital to get help for a few days REALLY be such a bad thing??

Maybe it is something you need. From one ex-cutter to a current, take the help where its given. Its there for a reason. Nothing in the hospital could be as bad as one slip up with a blade. Its a risk you cant take anymore.

I consulted with Madame Cleo and she said that it's totally uncertain...it depends on what you do and what you make of your destiny.
